Case Studies

Deepwater Construction Project

Contain construction sediments within each reservoir’s work zones used to provide seismic and hydraulic upgrades at the three reservoirs built between 1888.

Location:

Upper & Lower Crystal Springs & San Andreas Reservoir, San Mateo County, California

ABASCO Contribution:

Product Design: manufacture & installation support

Project Overview:

Contain construction sediments within each reservoir’s work zones used to provide seismic and hydraulic upgrades at the three reservoirs built between 1888. Demolition, new tunnel liners, refurbishment or replacement of water management infrastructure with frequent barge traffic with turbidity managed to utilize 9,150’ of tapered TYPE 3 HD turbidity curtains.

Environmental Dredging Project

Contain hydraulic dredge site contaminated sediments within several work zones utilizing 3,400’ of double-walled TYPE 3 HD curtains to manage site turbidity.

Location:

Northeast River

ABASCO Contribution:

Turbidity curtain design: manufacture and installation support

Project Overview:

Contain hydraulic dredge site contaminated sediments within several work zones to utilize 3,400’ of double-walled TYPE 3 HD curtains to manage site turbidity

Dam Construction Project

Location:

Folsom Dam Modification Phase IV, California

ABASCO Contribution:

Design engineering, manufacture & installation support

Project Overview:

Contain Folsom Dam work site construction sediments within several work zones to complete a new spillway offering 4,800’ Phase l and 2,500’ Phase II of TYPE 3 turbidity curtains.

Strong Current Dredging Project

Location:

Briscayne Bay, Watson Island, Miami, Florida

ABASCO Contribution:

Design engineering, manufacture & site support

Project Overview:

Contain bucket dredge sediments within several work zones, protect mitigation areas and frequent barge traffic offering 30,300’ of TYPE 3 turbidity curtains along with specialty turbidity curtains

Diversion Baffle Case History

Location:

City of Boise, Dixie Drain Phosphorous Removal Facility

ABASCO Contribution:

Product design, manufacture & installation support

Project Overview:

City of Boise and Brown & Caldwell designed a model facility in watershed-based approaches for meeting total maximum daily load limits treating 130 million gallons of daily water with ABASCO baffles incorporated in the lagoon separation phase and some additional containment requirements
