Rope Mop Skimmers

Rope Mop Oil Skimmers

ABASCO rope-mop oil skimmers are versatile, economical units that use an oleophilic rope mop to collect oil from surface water. Using the Rope Mop Skimmer, the oil is then squeezed out for collection as the rope passes through the skimmer. Rope-mop skimmers offer superior recovery efficiency in medium to fairly viscous oil, unaffected by floating debris, including broken ice. The rope mop skimmer can also be used for oil containment in calm waters and light currents. ABASCO Petro Mop rope has a long wear life, even when rubbing on structures or on sandy or rocky beaches. Available in a wide variety of configurations and sizes, with recovery rates up to 500 gal/min (114 m3/hr).

Case Studies

Project Overview
Construction sediments were contained within designated work zones during seismic and hydraulic upgrades at three reservoirs originally built in 1888. The project included demolition, installation of new tunnel liners, and the refurbishment or replacement of water management infrastructure. Frequent barge traffic was accommodated while maintaining water quality through the use of 9,150 feet of tapered Type 3 HD turbidity curtains.
